Mani Milano Lab offers a firing service for private individuals, dedicated to the creation of biscuit kilns and low-temperature glaze kilns.

🔥 Reference temperatures

  • Biscuit oven: 1010 °C (Orton IFB-05h cone)
  • Glaze oven: 980 °C (Orton cone IFB-07)

📦 Delivery of parts

The pieces must be delivered directly to the laboratory.

Prima della consegna, è necessario:

  • Verificare gli orari di apertura del laboratorio
  • Prenotare un appuntamento tramite l’e-mail indicata qui sotto

💰 Preventivo di cottura

È possibile richiedere un preventivo via e-mail.

Il costo verrà stimato in base a:

  • il volume occupato nel forno (vedi l’immagine illustrativa qui sotto),
  • oppure un forfait per forno intero a 90 € (100 litri di capacità).

📝 Information to be provided

Al momento della consegna e nella richiesta via e-mail, ti chiediamo di comunicare:

  • Nome e cognome
  • Numero di telefono
  • Per ogni pezzo: tipo di terra o smalto utilizzato, con link o foto dell’etichetta del materiale

⏱️ Cooking times

I pezzi saranno inseriti in coda di cottura e realizzati nel più breve tempo possibile.

COOKING SERVICE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The baking service is based on the possibility of filling the oven before baking. The date will be determined by ManiMilanoLab and an approximate date will be communicated; our oven is always on, but we kindly ask you to allow plenty of time.

  • Cooking costs for low-temperature oven: €90/l full oven capacity of 110 liters.
  • Cottura ad alta temperatura: aggiungere il 30% al costo di cottura del forno sfuso.
  • I pezzi di spessore superiore a 2 cm richiedono una cottura lenta extra e verrà addebitato un costo del 30% della minima per tale pezzo.
  • Gli articoli dovranno essere ritirati entro 14 giorni. Dopo 60 giorni, senza ritiro e senza avviso da vostra parte il pezzo sarà donato, senza eccezioni.
  • Se smaltati senza la nostra approvazione, ci riserviamo di non procedere con la cottura.
  • I pezzi che necessitano di un’inclinazione o di un’eccessiva pulizia dello smalto per proseguire alla messa nel forno costano un supplemento di €1 l’uno.

Any damage to kilns or shelves caused by defects in the customer's work is the responsibility of the owner of the piece. All costs of repairing the kiln or replacing shelves are the responsibility of the owner of the piece. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that all pieces are ready for firing to reduce the chances of the piece exploding in the kiln.

The pieces must be completely dry and ready for cooking.

Your pieces will be fired together with those of other customers, and you accept the risk that their pieces may damage yours, and that your pieces may damage theirs. Do not glaze the bottom of the pieces unless absolutely necessary! Before taking the pieces to be fired, please remove any internal paper, plastic, string, or other materials. Do not fire anything that is not clay.

Common Issues

Firing defects are usually caused by poor construction of the piece, moisture, air bubbles, excessive or insufficient glazing, incorrect glazing, etc. Please note that in some cases, pieces may explode or break, and glazes may chip, run, or drip during firing. At ManiMilanoLab, we use controlled kilns and Novatherm kiln stoves, made in Italy, with tested quality.
